First I wanted to state that I am experienced in almost 10 years of military service serving in four countries and eight years of federal law enforcement. I have used an assortment of from top models as Aimpoint, ACOG, etc. I am an owner of two ACOGs. Yet now I have switched both my primary M-4/AR-15s over to the NcStar Mark III. The NcStar exceeded expectations greatly especially when compared to its price of $139.70 on sale.Pros- The site has two primary pieces, the scope itself and a small site window mounted on top for close range such as room clearing which is where the typical ACOG falls short even at $800 to $1500. The Ncstar lower scope was easy to zero utilizing the windage and the elevation adjust that is located under the cap.

Once adjusted the exterior knobs are quick to use and lock in when you hit the desired settings based on target distance. There is a knob in the rear permitting quick zoom. On the left side another knob adjusts the color of the crosshairs to include red, green, and black. The close range upper sight window is also fairy easy to adjust.

There is also a nice feature of a quick release for mounting on the rails. Should you have backup iron sites and need to ditch the scope, it is really quick and easy.Cons- I am not a big fan of batteries such as is needed for the upper sight. But when compared to running out of ammo, I guess it is not much different. Just carry more batteries.Additionally the scope does feel like an item made at $200 except for the adjustment knobs do feel of quality. I did need to tighten some of the screws and move the upper sight a little.I do recommend this scope and now own two. Please like this post if it helped out.By: kraisydave.

For the money it's actually fairly good. It's not very good overall, but it's also not very expensive. As others have said, the red-dot is basically junk. If that's important to you, don't get this.

    Ncstar

The viewport is.very. small, and there's a lot of distortion towards the edges of it.The main glass is not bad for the price, though definitely not great.

It's clear, sharp, and bright enough (though not compared to a Leupold or Vortex). Eye relief at any power isn't very good, and varies considerably with the magnification setting.

It's difficult to use on full power because the eye relief becomes very short and the visible sight picture narrows considerably. I rarely went beyond about 6- or 7-power because of this.My intention was to run this and 45-degree iron sights in 3-gun competition (without the red-dot). That would make it legal in the 'Tactical Scope' division, give me long-range magnification, and still have some reasonable up-close sights with the 45-degree irons.

In this role it's.okay. The eye relief issue and narrow field of view really hurts its usability on longer shots, even with the extra magnification. Not being able to use the full power range effectively really cuts in on the expected benefits of a higher-power scope.I've since given up on this optic and gone to the more 'normal' approach- a 1-4x scope. Not as much magnification, but only one sighting system, and the glass is.lots. better (though I paid a lot more too).

I'm happier with the 1-4x system than with this NcStar scope + 45-degree iron sights.I think this tries too hard to be everything, and consequently falls a bit (or a lot) short of everything. The red-dot is no good at all so this is no good by itself for up close targets, and the glass just isn't really up to snuff for long-range targets. Consider, of the $150 price tag, some of that is going to the red-dot.

Whatever portion that was could have been better spent on the main glass. My advice- shop around for more traditional 1-4x, 2-7x, or 3-9x scopes instead. There's plenty of things around $100-$150 that will probably fill the role at least as well, and possibly better. I read many of the reviews before purchasing this sight. I dont know about the experience of those that wrote the reviews before but I am very statisfied with it. For the price this is a very good option. Let's be clear this is not a spec ops sniper sight. For the price paid it is a very good close quarters sight and aperature.

The red dot mechanism is not a laser but a clear and bright red dot sight good for 20 yards at best. The actual sight is a 100 to 200 yard max sight. As far as quick aquisition low distance sights go this a very good sight for the price. I was able to group a three shot grouping within a quarter size at 100 yards with my colt AR. I would recommend this for the novice shooter or close tactical operation but not for distance shooting without alot of practice. I did have to adjust the sight alignment and picture on the red dot but that was easy with a common allen wrench.

Again I would not purchase this with the hopes of being a long range sniper but within 100 and 200 yards it is adequate. I have paid more for long range sights and you get what you pay for, simple enough. I bought this scope for my AR about a year ago now and I would say that for the money it's not a bad purchase. It only has about a 2' eye relief so you really have to lean in to get a good picture but if you have a retractable stock you can adjust it so that you dont have to. The red dot sucks but I figgured that the mount alone was worth the gamble.

The lens caps are connected to eachother by two rubber strips. One on each side the length of the scope. After a while they will start to rip at the ends making them usless but I fixed mine with 550 cord and one of those toggle things. The lens cap on the red dot fell off the first time I took it out to the field so that's long gone but I guess that was my fault. I do really like the quick disconect mount, mine holds zero if I take it off and put it back on.

The sight picture is clean, and the reticle is easy to read. I still have mine attached to my gun so I guess I cant complain too much. I am giving 4-5 stars at this time until I can get to the range to sight this in on my Smith and Wesson AR 15. I ordered this and received it in less than 48 hours. This to me was amazing. I had it mounted on my AR in under 5 minutes. I will be sighting it in this weekend and be modifying my review.

The product description and directions were spot on. At 9x magnification you do get some blurring but what do you expect from a. As the title says, the red-dot is completely worthless. When I put it on and looked through the site all I could see is a paintball splatter looking formation through the sight. I tried to fix it and adjust it in very way I could but it was to no affect. So once again do not waste time getting the scope and red-dot, just get the scope itself.

Speaking of, the scope is amazing! It's a good A-COG scope and is perfectly clear. I haven't had any problems with scope at all. One thing I can say, is make sure you are holding your rifle correctly and in a straight up and down position or it may seem like the cross-hairs are crooked and out of place.

All and all, a great buy! But the 30 dollars extra that you pay for the red dot isn't worth it.

You can buy the scope buy itself for 100 dollars or so.God Speed, Patriots! I don't know why other people reviewed this product low, the clearly are inexperienced with optics.First, I'll address the quick acquisition scope. It breaks and does not come online the way people want because the force it outside of it's working range. They fail to realize that it is mounted over an inch higher than it was designed to work, which mean it will be a little high regardless of what you do. If you remove it from the scope and mount it directly to your rail, it dials in an function flawlessly.Second, the scope itself is great.

The optics as of good quality, sight adjustment as easy and accurate. The drop compensation functions well, I was nailing anything I was aiming for at any distance. The only bad things I can say it the scope lens covers kinda suck, because they are not flip up, but that's a preference thing. The green and red optic lights are a little to bright, but there are 2 setting and its manageable if you know when to use what setting. Also there is only about a 2 inch relief, for me it's not an issue, but again, that's a personal preference thing. The company I bought mine from is AWSOME, great customer service. My scope originally came tilted slightly to the left due to it's mounting on the quick release mount. The scope is fixed, so there's nothing you can do about it except exchange it for another one.

Which the company did with out hesitation or complaint. They responded to e-mails and took care if the issue very quickly. I did contact NcStar directly on this issue. It is a known problem that they have fixed. The problem is the Gen 1 mounts that the scopes are mounted on. The Gen 2 mount took care of the issue.

Although I know the company will take care of their customers, I would actually recommend dealing with NcStar directly rather than hasting the seller for an issue they have no control over. If you get a scope that is off, simply call NcStar, they will send you an updated Gen2 2 mount at not cost and you can just swap it out yourself.Either way, it's a great product and a great price. I plan on buying a second one for another rifle. The scope itseld is excellent for the money optics get a little destorted on 9 power but it keeps zero and is very accurate I put 10 rounds at 100 yrs you could cover with a quarter and the turret is right on. Be carefull though mine came from factory with the windage and elevation turnened so far out it was almosr unscrewed from the turrets. My advice do not waste your time nor money buying this scope with the attached red dot site at 25 yards I ran out of adjustment and was still shooting 2 feet high and 3 feet ledt could not adjust any further you can buy this same scope without the red dot and thats the thing to do.In my opinion they shouldnt even offer the red dot on this scope it is so horrible!!!!!!!!!! Scope is nice for the money. Seems sturdy (only time will tell), Quick mount works well.

I did take the advice on here and checked all of the screws tight as soon as I got it. The sight picture is clear and the zoom is good. With internal Green and Red illumination, the crosshairs are a little bit thick but not too bad. The Red dot sight is not the best I have seen but it is definitely functional and again for the money very reasonable. The only real complaint I have is the eye relief.

It is a little short (2 inches at best) to use as a tactical scope even if I mount it as far back as I can on rail. The product arrived OK but had problems from the start. The Windage dial was not locked on the scope so I had to find an Allen Wrench to fix it. Still not sure its zeroed in with the dials numbers correctly. The smaller Red Dot sight is a joke.

Given the height of the scope off the rifle, you simply can't get the red dot to come down far enough with the set screw to even get close to correct alignment. I took it off. As long as your shooting at something 100+ yards out, the scope should be just fine but for anything close, forget it, same problem as the small red dot, you can't get the settings to go low enough to meet the target. I recommend finding a cheaper NcStar. Not a high end military grade scope/red dot. That said it is an excellent combo for the price paid. The 3X9 lets you put rounds on target accurately from long range while the red dot lets you quick shoot at close to medium range.

The red dot is the lower quaility of the 2 items but is mounted on a small pic rail so that you can upgrade your red dot later if you wish. $150.00 and you get both worlds to play with. This is the 2nd combo I have bought. I have both the Mil dot and the sniper version. Either scope is fine and unless you plan to make 300 - 500 yard shots, don't worry about which one you get. See my reveiw on the mil dot version for more details.

What does this price mean? This is the price (excluding shipping and handling fees) a seller has provided at which the same item, or one that is nearly identical to it, is being offered for sale or has been offered for sale in the recent past. The price may be the seller's own price elsewhere or another seller's price. The 'off' amount and percentage simply signifies the calculated difference between the seller-provided price for the item elsewhere and the seller's price on eBay. If you have any questions related to the pricing and/or discount offered in a particular listing, please contact the seller for that listing. Budget ScopeI purchased this scope for use on a center fire rifle, reading most of the prior reviews re: use on a rim fire rifle, must agree with them. I have fired 20 rounds of 30 caliber and its holding zero currently. However, at 100 yards on 9x view of target is fuzzy.

Lower power clears some of that up but now point of aim is off slightly. I expected that a $30.00 scope would have problems, my suggestion is mount and sight it in, remove it pack it in box and retain it as a back up scope when you expect some rough use on your hunt.Verified purchase: Yes Condition: New. Great scope for the priceThis is an excellent scope for the price range. It's crystal clear, and I love the P4 reticle. I didn't want an illuminated mil-dot scope because in my mind that was just another thing that could fail. Also, I didn't want to fool around with batteries. However, I was wanting a mil-dot scope so that I could adjust my aiming consistently at long range.

Then I noticed this scope, and after reading about the P4 reticle, I realized that this one would be perfect. The only drawback I noticed is that the manual would have been more helpful if it were made specifically for this scope model, instead of a generic NCStar scope manual. The manual seemed to suggest that the scope had a focusing ring on the eyepiece, and I did notice a ring, but I was unable to turn the ring by hand. I wasn't su re if the focusing ring was a feature on all scope models or just some models.

Initially I was disappointed because it seemed that the higher magnifications were out of focus, but then I realized that I was using the high magnification for a target that was too close. 5x-9x magnification will be in focus if the target is more than about 60 feet away. There's really no need to use such high magnification at less than 60 feet anyway.

Again, I am highly pleased with the scope overall.Verified purchase: Yes Condition: New.
